Synopsis
Cheryl Bradshaw, a single woman looking for a groom on a popular 1970s TV show, chooses charming bachelor Rodney Alcala, unaware that behind the man’s gentle facade hides a deadly secret. IMDb has compiled a list of some of the notable films of 2024 directed by women. Some of Cheryl’s failed experiences as an aspiring actress mirror Anna Kendrick’s own. Cheryl’s breast comment “literally came from something that happened to me when I was 19.” The coins stolen from the laundromat are modern quarters.

This film touched me for several reasons
I’m Not Against It Screenplay by Morris Bailey Jr. and Lee Phillips Performed by Jackie Lavant and The Fashions Courtesy of Jamie Record Co. I was a college student at the time depicted in this film, and I remember very well how naive many young women were about how manipulative, conniving, and dangerous some men could be. I was lucky that nothing happened to me, because I certainly took risks in situations when I should have known better.
I thought that Anna Kendrick and Daniel Zovatto played their roles very well
And then, when something like a sexual crime happened to a young woman, law enforcement agencies did not always take it seriously. They often thought that the girl proposed herself, because, for example, she wore a short skirt and walked alone at night. The pace of this film is deliberate and intense, and it switches between time frames and victims. I found it a little annoying at first, but it all made sense in the end.
Dovatto looked creepy AF
A few moments are, of course, fictional, and I’m not sure to what extent. I read a little about Rodney Alcale, and how he was detained, in fact, exactly. If you can handle the slow pace of this movie, it’s definitely worth watching. No need to waste time on endless scrolling – here is the entire lineup of new movies and TV shows streaming on Netflix this month.
